“Once introduced discontinuity, once challenge any of the properties of visual space, and as they flow from each other, the whole conceptual framework collapses.” (Marshall Mcluhan)
The curved plastic light console is made from a large number of LED elements which can be software-controlled, thus generating dynamic light animation effects, whose visual conception corresponds to the light wave image.
By integrating touch-sensitive elements into the surface of the console, it’s possible to make the surface interactive, thus light wave dynamics are generated in response to a person’s presence or actions. For example, by actively interacting with the console surface, a child would create a visual structure whose waves would create turbulent flows and mixes, but this effect would only be created at a certain point of the console, leaving the flow moving freely across the remaining part of the surface.
There is an analogy with the current of a river, in which an intervention occurs from outside, but under the given the proposal, the flow is transformed into a visual form.
