Reflecting concern for the welfare of homeless animals in the urban environment, the NGO “Dzīvnieku SOS” establishes cats’ homes in the Riga suburbs, where these animals can find sanctuary during the coldest months of the year.

These homes are established in places, where colonies of sterilised street cats live, thus providing clean and feline-friendly environments for the cats to find sanctuary in.

Clean and orderly sanctuaries for homeless cats increase the likelihood that residents will treat them with tolerance and kindness, thus reducing the risk of heartless behaviour towards them.

With the support of the Foundation, the society has established over 60 cats’ homes in Riga and Greater Riga.

“Dzīvnieku SOS” is an animal protection society, whose goal is to change public opinion about animals, their rights and protection, as well as to help abandoned animals and those that are victims of violence.
