For the past 30 years, the non-profit organisation “Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project” has dedicated its work to the conservation of the endangered silverback mountain gorilla, as well as to the conservation of eastern lowland gorilla populations in the African countries of Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda and Congo.

Mountain gorillas can only survive in their natural wild habitat and their numbers are in critical decline. Their populations are threatened by deforestation, poaching and diseases transmitted by humans (tourists).

Thanks to the support provided by "gorilla doctors" and donors, this difficult work has resulted in an increase in the number of mountain gorillas to 850 animals of this species.
