With the support of the Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation, Latvian Radio has for many years offered listeners the opportunity to discover the newest and most engaging books from a wide range of publishers through two literary programs.
The Latvian Radio 1 program “Radio’s Little Reading Room” (“Radio mazā lasītava”) in Latvian and the Latvian Radio 4 program “Book Tuesdays” (“Книжный вторник”) in Russian have introduced audiences to contemporary literature, outstanding authors, and significant publishing events.
“Book Tuesdays” was on air from 2016 to 2025. All recordings of the program are available on the Internet, allowing audiences to revisit broadcasts at any time.
“Radio’s Little Reading Room” continues to be on air, offering literary readings and stories on Latvian Radio 1, while recordings of the program are also available online for convenient listening at any time.
By tuning in to these programs, audiences can hear excerpts from literary works as well as insightful commentary from invited guests discussing poetry and prose. The broadcasts also provide an opportunity to meet writers, translators, and publishers on air, offering deeper insight into the literary process and the book industry.
