In honor of the 120th anniversary of the great poet and writer Aleksandrs Čaks, on October 14, 2021, a memorial plaque was opened. It was created by the artist Vilipsōns and the creative team. The opening date was not chosen by chance. Although according to the new style the poet's birthday is celebrated on October 27, according to the old style A. Čaks was born on October 14, 1901.
This is another art object created in the urban environment with the support of the Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation. It marks an important cultural and historical place for every admirer of the poet's work - the plaque is located at the entrance to the A. Čaks Museum (48 Lāčplēša Street, Rīga).
The leitmotif of the plaque can be found in the poem "City Boy" (Es no torņiem un skursteņiem mācījos / Vēl pirms miršanas debesīs kāpt) and is now visible as a bronze art object created by the artist Vilipsōns.
The house chosen for the installation of the memorial plaque is associated with many joyful and sad moments in the life of the poet. He lived and worked in this house from 1937 to 1950. This is the time when A. Čaks writes a lot, publishes, he is known and appreciated. However, this is also the time when the Second World War is raging in the world, and later - the difficult post-war period, which was also reflected in the writer's work.
