The broadcast and theatrical play cycle "Teā" offers a unique benefit to the Latvian public - television viewers of various generations and audiences of the future. "Teā" is an opportunity to view transmissions of the best and viewers’ favourite theatrical plays on LTV and Internet. It also records a very best contemporary theatrical productions for broadcasting in the future. 

"Teā" was launched in the autumn of 2012

Since autumn 2012, audience of "Teā" have had the opportunity to enjoy recordings and live broadcasts of 258 Latvian theatrical productions from various eras.

Parallel to this, LTV has produced recordings of 204 plays from theatres in Riga and the regions. These are plays that have been included in Latvia’s cultural canon, as well as productions considered to be classics of their respective eras.

The latest "Teā" shows presented by Ojārs Rubenis can be viewed at LTV and "Teā" Internet page. But in order to give an even wider audience access to theatre art, in collaboration with the Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation, Latvian Television has also made a selection of the finest “Teā" productions available for viewing on the Internet. Viewers can watch these plays indefinitely in contrast to the usual practice where productions broadcast on television can subsequently be seen on the Internet for a period of one week. We invite you to enjoy the archive of the very best "Teā" programmes here.

As usual, "Teā" is recording the best productions in various Latvian theatres. Some productions are intended for children.

Moreover, the programme collaborates with the Theatre Museum; that makes it possible to present the programme in a new light visually, and offers wider opportunities to discover contemporary theatre against a historical background.
