The Museum is set to become a cultural and arts centre of interregional as well as national significance. It is planned to open the museum building in 2021.

On 3 December 2013, the collaboration agreement with Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (JVLMA) was signed for the provision of support to fund the participation of JVLMA’s talented students at major international competitions.
On 4 April 2012, the Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation agreed to provide support to the Art Academy of Latvia, signing a memorandum of collaboration to strengthen the AAL’s efforts to nurture excellence.
