In honor of the outstanding theatre director Oļģerts Kroders, an art object “Kroder’s apple tree” created by artists Aivars Vilipsōns and Ivars Miķelsons has been installed near the Valmiera Theater.

In a cycle of 5 lectures “From a Dove of Peace to a Sea Monster” art historian Helēna Demakova examines the history of Western contemporary art in the 20th century and recent and current developments within this field in the 21st century.
The project for enriching the collection of the National Library with high quality books, catalogues and films about art is fulfilled. The collection was augmented with 570 art publications and 235 documentary films.
The contemporary art exhibition “With Seven-league Boots. Stop – Finland. Works from the Kiasma Collection” was on view at the Art Museum "Riga Bourse" in Riga from 25 November 2017 to 7 January 2018.
