RSU scientists study COVID-19. 09.10.2020.

Virologists from Rīga Stradiņš University research the biological material of Latvian coronavirus patients. The Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation has supported this study, thus strengthening the fight against COVID-19.

  • This aspect is especially important to be able to predict the course of the disease in patients from different risk groups. The results can further be used to provide the appropriate treatment.

  • The materials of patients are stored in the National Genome Database. The biobank of patient material created in cooperation with the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Center, leading Latvian hospitals, and other scientific institutions will be used to study the virus mutation detected in Latvia, as well as for future research of COVID-19 in Latvia and internationally.
