Senior citizens in 18 municipalities received festive packages. 20.11.2015.
With the help of Latvia’s regional NGOs, during the week of the public holidays, festive packages were presented to over 1,150 senior citizens in 18 municipalities.

Several times a year, festive packages are prepared and distributed under the auspices of the Foundation’s charitable programme “A Piece of Bread”. Pictured: packages for local senior citizens are prepared by volunteers of the Alūksne and Ape District Foundation.

Festive packages contain a greeting and products that senior citizens find hard to buy on a daily basis.

During public holidays, lonely senior citizens were greeted by seven NGOs supported by the Boris and Inara Teterev Foundation. These NGOs are based in Talsis, Aluksne and Ape, Lielvarde, Kandava, Valmiera, Mid-Latgale and Limbazi. The NGOs also recruited the help of both grown up and little assistants. Pictured: youngsters at a Kandava school prepare flag ribbons which will become part of the festive package.

In Talsis, presentation of festive packages begins with a Goodness Breakfast. These were attended by local residents over 80 years of age who have already lost their loved ones or live a long way away from them. -
These NGOs regularly organise special events for these senior citizens including performances and productions of theatrical plays.

In total, during the 2015/2016 season festive packages will be presented to 3,000 senior citizens in 23 districts of Latvia.
