The names of philanthropists Boris and Ināra Teterev are associated with long-standing support of great significance to society. In 2010, the philanthropists established a charitable foundation with the aim of purposefully supporting socially important charitable initiatives, although outstanding projects have been regularly implemented since as early as 1994.
Over the years, the foundation has helped implement projects in education and science, culture and the arts, social assistance, community development, and animal protection. This period has been filled with people, ideas, and accomplishments for which we feel sincere pride and deep gratitude.
The charitable work carried out during these years has made it possible to achieve many remarkable accomplishments. From the restoration of Rundāle Palace and the organization of outstanding art exhibitions in Latvia to supporting dozens of soup kitchens. From helping provide education for children in Nepal to scholarships for talented young people in medicine, art, and music in Latvia. From assisting farmers in Guatemala and Guinea-Bissau to supporting enterprising people in Latvia so they could grow food for their family tables. From caring for animal shelters in Latvia to rescuing gorillas and elephants in Africa and Thailand. Hundreds of organizations have received support, and a helping hand has been extended to thousands of people in Latvia and abroad.
The Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation is an integral part of Latvia’s charitable movement. Guests interviewed by Latvian Radio said of the philanthropists: “It is a rare case when great wealth is combined with a great desire to do good for others”. The philanthropists themselves once stated: “We are grateful and thankful for what we have accomplished together over these years. We believe that what has been done and achieved changes the world around us, making it kinder, more orderly, and wiser at heart”.
Many important awards and words of gratitude have been received for the work accomplished. The philanthropists’ contribution has also been commemorated in several symbolic dedications.
However, no initiative would have been possible without the people who stand alongside us. We sincerely thank the many hundreds of active and dedicated individuals who have been with the foundation throughout these years, helping to carry out work that benefits thousands of people in Latvia and beyond!
